Hello Support,
We’d like to submit a request to standardize customer phone number formatting in Cart.com.
Currently, customers may enter phone numbers in various formats during checkout, which is fine and should continue to be allowed. For example, customers should be able to submit phone numbers in formats such as:
-- +1 (818) 853-4580
-- 818-853-4580
-- (818) 853 4580
-- 8188534580
However, once the order is submitted and the phone number is received in the Cart.com backend, we would like the system to automatically normalize and store the phone number in a consistent numeric-only format with no special characters, spaces, or punctuation. Using the example above, all formats should be converted and stored as:
-- 18188534580
Requested behavior:
Allow customers to enter phone numbers in any common format at checkout.
Automatically strip out hyphens, parentheses, spaces, plus signs, and any other special symbols after submission.
Store the phone number in the backend in a standardized digits-only format.
Ideally, apply this formatting consistently anywhere phone numbers are stored or passed downstream (orders, customer records, exports, integrations, etc.).
The goal is to improve data consistency, reduce formatting issues in exports/integrations, and simplify downstream processing.
Please let us know if this can be enabled via existing settings, configured through a rule, or if it would need to be submitted as a feature request.
Thank you,
Juan Ramirez
